The School Gate

The publisher

Who publishes this, and why

The School Gate is published by AutoLeGen. We sell practice-operations software to allied-health practices, and this site exists because the people we build for kept hitting the same wall: a school said no, or sent a form nobody had seen before, and there was nowhere to compare what the state next door does.

That is the commercial interest, stated plainly. Everything here is free and is meant to be useful to someone who never contacts us.

Method

How this was researched

Every jurisdiction's policy was fetched directly and read. Nothing here comes from a search summary or a secondary write-up.

Where a page could not be retrieved, it is marked unestablished rather than filled in from somewhere else. The Northern Territory's provider package sits behind an anti-bot block and the ACT publishes no procedure we could find. That is why two destinations on this site are visibly unsigned, and it is the part we would least like to remove.

Obligations are recorded in the direction the source states them. “Recommended” is not written up into “required”, and a target is not written up into a deadline. Victoria's own wording is the clearest example: principals are asked to endeavour to respond within 10 days, and it stays that way on this site. [S4]

What this is not

Not legal advice. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any education department, the NDIA, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, or Speech Pathology Australia. Every policy quoted here belongs to the department that published it and is linked so you can read it in full.

Corrections

If we have a jurisdiction wrong, or a department has updated a page we cite, tell us at hello@autolegen.com. We will fix it and date the change on the notes page.

The compression

If the eight-way comparison is the thing you keep coming back for, the one-pager is that comparison on a sheet you can print. Send me every state's gate on one sheet.

The one-pager

Every state's gate on one sheet

The four questions that actually differ, the fork where Queensland and Western Australia contradict each other, and the two jurisdictions nobody has published. Printed to keep beside the phone.

  1. 01 Who may make the request, per jurisdiction, and the two states that disagree
  2. 02 Professional indemnity and public liability minimums, with the blanks left blank
  3. 03 The instrument each department requires, and who signs it

…and 8 more, including the two published decision clocks and the jurisdictions we could not establish.
